I was doing Paramhansa Yogananda’s energization exercises on the porch of our upstairs apartment in the Ananda Community, lamenting that it was pouring rain and that there was so little beauty to photograph, when this little fellow appeared.
I went to my office and got my camera, fearing that he might be gone before I returned. It was very difficult to focus on him because he was so tiny among many small branches. But he hung around, posing more or less patiently until I took this final photo, whereupon he promptly flew away.
Hummingbirds only reveal their blazing colors from a particular angle of the light; all of the other photos I took showed him a dull black and gray.
